Position summary: Seeking a motivated Construction Safety and Emergency Preparedness Intern to support a safe work environment across residential construction sites. This internship provides hands-on experience in applying safety and emergency management principles in an active construction setting. Essential duties and responsibilities: Conduct routine job site safety inspections and document findings. Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions. Assist with job hazard analyses prior to construction activities. Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Assist in maintaining safety records, inspection reports, and incident documentation. Participate in investigations of accidents, injuries, and near miss incidents. Assist with emergency preparedness planning, including severe weather procedures and emergency response protocols. Participate in daily safety meetings or toolbox talks. Observe equipment operation and help identify safety improvements. Support quality assurance inspections to help ensure projects meet company standards for safety and workmanship.
Qualifications Required:
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in fields such as Occupational Safety,
Environmental Health and Safety, Emergency Management, or Construction
Management.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather. Strong attention to detail.
Preferred:
- OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain during the internship.
- Previous construction experience and experience with documentation, inspections, or
quality assurance.
Learning objectives: Apply quality assurance and emergency management principles in construction. Develop workplace hazard assessment skills. Understand OSHA regulations and safety best practices. Participate in emergency planning and response. Evaluate operational risks and recommend safety improvements. Intern will report directly to company management and receive mentorship related to safety, risk management, and quality assurance practices.
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
